Business Podcast – Top 10 Reasons Sales Forces Fail

December 8, 2020 · Sales

So why do sales forces fail? Almost never for one dramatic reason. It’s usually a pile-up of smaller, boring problems that nobody fixes because none of them feel urgent on their own.

The themes I see over and over: no clear, repeatable sales process. Hiring for charisma instead of discipline. Comp plans that reward the wrong behavior. Onboarding that assumes new reps will “figure it out.” No real coaching once someone’s past their first ninety days. Pipeline data nobody trusts, so nobody uses it. Leadership that manages the forecast instead of the fundamentals. And, more often than you’d think, a sales team that’s never actually been told what winning looks like.

None of these show up on a scoreboard until the quarter’s already over. That’s exactly why they’re worth checking on before then, not after.
