International Business Video – How To Spot an International Business Fraud

June 8, 2020 · International Business

This one could save your company a very expensive lesson. A few red flags worth knowing before you sign anything internationally:

Pressure to move fast, especially pressure to wire money before due diligence is finished. Documentation that looks official but doesn’t hold up to a second look — mismatched company names, addresses that don’t check out, licenses that can’t be verified. A counterparty who’s evasive about who actually owns the company you’re dealing with. And a deal that seems unusually generous for how little work it requires from the other side.

None of these prove fraud on their own. Together, they’re exactly the pattern con artists rely on you not noticing until it’s too late.
