Three strategies that feel efficient at home, and cost companies dearly abroad:
One-size-fits-all rollout. The same product, pricing, and messaging that worked domestically, shipped overseas unchanged, on the assumption that “good” translates automatically. It usually doesn’t.
Chasing the lowest-price supplier. The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest outcome once you factor in quality control, communication costs, and the occasional total production failure.
Ignoring the local regulatory environment. Rules on ownership, labor, licensing and taxation vary enormously, and “we’ll figure it out once we’re there” is a strategy that gets expensive fast.
